Tullibardine 15-Years

A couple months ago I had the chance to try three expressions by Tullibardine, a single malt highland scotch whisky. Truthfully, the best one of the three is their 15-Year, so let’s get into it.

The 15-Year was distilled after the reopening of the distillery in 2003 and is matured in first-fill bourbon casks.

Nose: apples, cloves and vanilla
Palate: jammy, spices, and vanilla
Finish: spiced and nutty
Cost: $70-$80
ABV: 43%

Of the three whiskies, this is the one that kept me sipping. It’s lightly sweet with loads of baking spices and the finishing notes of nuttiness were great. I appreciate the low ABV as it was not harsh. It’s smooth and easy to drink.

For a 15-Year whisky, I think the price is fantastic, but let me be clear, this whisky is not revolutionary and not something you need in your life. It’s good, yes, and if you happen to try, you’ll enjoy it. But not something you’ll miss out on if you walk past it.

Cheers!
