Manhattan 1792

I do love a good ready-made cocktail. I find them affordable and for the most part a lot better than what some bartenders serve you. So, my mission is to try as many of them as possible, so you don’t have to.

This Manhattan 1792 is by Original Cocktails by Heublein and is bottled by Sazerac. Which coincidentally also produces the Small Batch 1792 Whiskey. This ready-made cocktail is a 200ml bottle and is made with Bourbon whiskey, vermouth, and bitters.

Nose: vanilla, sugar and bitters
Palate Neat: Sweet, vanilla and light bitters
Palate Over Ice: sweetness is intensified and it’s very syrupy
Finish: bitters in the backend with light sweetness
Cost: $4.99 (200ml)
ABV: 35%

It’s simply too sweet in my opinion. I thought adding over ice would mellow the sweetness, but it only enhanced it. It’s syrupy and the bitters don’t appear till the end.

Honestly, I’m not a fan and couldn’t finish it. This is for those who enjoy a sweet cocktail. The sweetness does a great job at masking all the other ingredients. If that is what you are looking for then this is for you.

Cheers!
