The Dalmore 14-Year

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of The Dalmore. I loved it so much, one of my husband’s Christmas presents last year was The Dalmore King Alexander III. It’s an exceptional juice but we know it’s extremely pricey. This 14-year whisky on the other hand is a bit more affordable and spoiler alert, it’s also so very delicious.

The whisky is matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks and finished in rare and aged Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It also joins The Dalmore principal collection, exclusively in the US.

Nose: raisins, spices, and honey
Palate: light sweetness, figs and nutty
Finish: cocoa, spices, and light sweetness
Cost: $85-$105 (depending on where you buy. We purchased our bottle at $90.)
ABV: 43%

For a person who doesn’t like sweetness, I have always found this brand to have just the right amount. It’s lightly sweet with notes of figs, nuts, and spices. The finish brings in a bit of cocoa for a delicious sip. It’s balanced, smooth and very easy to drink.

This 14 year was the first bottle we added to our collection. That was followed by the Alexander. Beforehand we would just go to bars and order drams to taste them. I’ve not had a bad whisky from this brand, and I’ll be surprised if they ever do. This is truly a brand that makes phenomenal quality whisky.

Cheers!
