The Dalmore King Alexander III

I’m a huge fan of Dalmore and Saturday night, while attending a tasting event,I got the chance to taste Dalmore’s King Alexander III. This tasting event was crowded but the minute I tried this, oh my goodness it was as if the room went quiet and sweet baby angels came down from the heavens and started to sing, just to me. Yes, that good!!

This whisky has six cask finishes: small batch Bourbon, Matusalem OlorossoSherry casks, Madeira casks, Marsala casks, Port Pipes and Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques. Their website indicates that the whiskies are married to create a new one-of-a-kind whisky and I simply can’t agree more. It truly is one of a kind!

Nose: berries and fruit
Palate: vanilla, caramel, and almonds
Finish: spices, cinnamon and nutmeg
ABV: 40%
Cost: $350-$370

This whisky is smooth and the low ABV makes it just so easy to drink. There is absolutely no burn. I don’t like sweet whiskies and although this one sounds sweet, it’s not. The sweetness is balanced with spices and almond notes. It’s simply fantastic.

Alright, if you’ve gotten this far, I’m sure you are probably losing your mind over this price. Yes, it’s a very spicy price but, this is a whisky you truly drink on a special occasion. We spent more than this on our wedding whisky and honestly, I prefer this one. This is a whisky to give someone you love, or you share on that very special day. You better believe I’m adding to my wish list.

Cheers!
