In 2016 WhistlePig released their oldest expression to date and that is their 15-Year Straight Rye Whiskey. It was a whiskey we had been wanting to try and lucky for us, a friend gave us a bottle as a Christmas present this past year.

Tasting Notes

Nose: vanilla, oak, caramel and spices

Palate: pepper, butterscotch, oak, rye and spices

Finish: caramel and spices

We are fans of WhistlePig, and this expression didn’t disappoint. It is rich, warming, full of spices and delicious. You get hit with a good amount of spice that is then balanced with the sweet notes of caramel and butterscotch. It is a smooth 100% rye whiskey that is definitely full of flavor.

If you are looking to buy this whiskey, the costs is a little steep. Currently the price ranges between $220-$230 depending on where you buy. We are lucky because it was given to us as a gift (we have awesome friends. Thank you, Dan!).

For those that are looking to try WhistlePig at a more reasonable price, their 10-year whiskey is definitely a good one that is around $70. For those that do want to get this bottle, there is something really special about it. This whiskey was definitely a hit with us and we loved it.
