Happy Labor Day (here in the states)! Want something sweet with your apple pie this fall or on this holiday Monday? How about Lagavulin ice cream? Before you shake your head and think I am crazy, the ice cream is pretty darn good.
Yesterday evening while visiting our friend Mike in western MA, we got creative and we did just that, with the help of his mother Kay of course. We wanted the ice cream to be smoky so my boyfriend brought Lagavulin. The ice cream took only 45 minutes in the ice cream maker. The ice cream was not only creamy but also extremely smoky. If you have an ice cream maker here’s the recipe. If you make it, I’d certainly like to get your thoughts.
Kay’s Lagavulin Ice Cream
2 cups of heavy cream
¾ cups of sugar
¾ cups of half & half
3 ½ tablespoons of Lagavulin (aka deliciousness)
Mix all the ingredients together, put them in the ice cream maker and 45 minutes later, voila, Lagavulin ice cream. You will be surprised at how great it tastes. I think we will continue to work with the recipe to see if we can perfect it but in the meantime, this one will not disappoint.
The ice cream does taste smoky and was perfectly paired with an apple tart for the perfect dessert. A must try!
Cheers!
