Finding Ardbog

I know it’s been nearly 4 weeks since my last post. I took a little hiatus from writing but am back and wanted to share with everyone an absolutely amazing find I stumbled across during the 4th of July weekend.

I first wrote about Ardbog by Ardbeg back in November of last year http://wp.me/p3Zt2k-1t. Although not many bottles were produced, I fell in love with this Islay single malt at first taste. It’s a campfire in a bottle and it quickly became my favorite. I did go searching for it but was told that bottles were no longer available.

Ardbog was a limited release produced by Ardbeg http://wp.me/p3Zt2k-13 for the Islay 2013 Islay Festival of Music and Malt. This off course didn’t stop me from looking at the shelves every time I went into a liquor store. No matter what liquor store I went into, I always look at their whisky collection to see what they carry.

This past weekend, my boyfriend and I went to Western, MA to spend the weekend with friends at their lake house. On our way there, we stop by Yankee Spirits to pick up a few beverages. Always looking at a liquor stores whisky selection finally paid off. My boyfriend couldn’t get my attention fast enough as he was the first one to notice that there was a single box of Ardbog behind their locked glass case. I immediately sought the help from an attendant (Dennis) to grab it for me and buy it I certainly did. Dennis was actually quite helpful and quite knowledgeable. He shared with us that this was a bottle they had recently found in their back room from what they had acquired last year.

I have a pretty good whisky collection but adding this rare find has made it all the better. I was glad to finally have in hand a product that is not only, not easy to find but also a product I had been searching for, for quite some time.

Finally, I have a whisky that I plan to enjoy only on special occasions and this find made our time at the lake house all the more enjoyable!

If you’ve tried it and love it or even hate it, I would love to hear your thought on it.

Cheers!

PS – I will resume my regular whisky postings this coming Thursday.

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
