Keeping today’s post short and (not too) sweet—because we’re talking about this Mission cocktail. Whenever I spot a pre-made Old Fashioned, I’m all in. It’s one of my favorites, and if it’s ready to pour, count me in. I recently tried the Old Fashioned from Mission Craft Cocktails, and I’ve got thoughts. Curious? Keep reading.
I picked up a 375ml bottle for $12.99, clocking in at 40% ABV. This Old Fashioned is crafted with bourbon whiskey, rye whiskey, bitters, and a touch of sweet orange zest. The bottle doesn’t specify how many servings it contains, so I can’t break down the cost per pour.
So, did I like it? Unfortunately, no. If I had to pinpoint why, I’d say it’s the blend of bourbon and rye whiskey—rye and I just don’t mix. That said, I did appreciate that this cocktail isn’t sweet at all, which earns it major points in my book. The whiskey flavor is bold and upfront. If you’re someone who enjoys a strong whiskey-forward cocktail and prefers to skip the sweetness, this one might be right up your alley.
Cheers!
