Vermont Ice Maple Bourbon

My husband and I went to college in Vermont, so when I spotted this adorable 50ml bottle of Vermont Ice Maple Bourbon, it was an instant ‘add to cart’ moment. Let’s dive in!

Crafted by Boyden Valley Winery & Spirits in Cambridge, Vt. This expression features their four-generation, 100% pure wood-fired Vermont maple syrup. Aged for eight months in bourbon barrels, the syrup is then infused into the whiskey, creating a rich and distinctive flavor profile.

Nose: honey, wood and vanilla

Palate: maple syrup, vanilla and oak

Finish: wood followed by light sweetness

Cost: $2.99 (what we paid for 50ml)

ABV: 40%

I’ll be honest—I didn’t have high hopes for this whiskey going in. But to my surprise, it turned out slightly better than expected. It’s on the sweeter side, with noticeable maple notes balanced by a touch of oak. Personally, it’s a bit too sweet to sip neat, especially since I’m not a fan of sugary drinks. That said, this whiskey really shines in a cocktail. I can see it working beautifully in an Old Fashioned, where the maple syrup could easily stand in for simple syrup—perfect for warm weather sipping. So, if you’re looking to mix up a cocktail, this could be a great option.

Cheers!
