The Dunbrody Irish Whiskey

If you’ve never heard of The Dunbrody Irish Whiskey, well, let me introduce you to this new brand of Irish Whiskey. My husband and I attended a whiskey tasting event (which we paid to attend) at Julio’s Liquors this past weekend and this brand made its very first appearance.

The brand falls under the LHK Spirits Group and their Eastern US Portfolio Manager, Danielle Seals shared with me that the brand launched March 1st in MA and CA. It will be available throughout the US in the coming months. It’s a small batch whiskey by Master Blender Jeffrey Karlovitch. Seals went on to say that the name comes from the Dunbrody famine ship which brought Irish whiskey, goods, and passengers to the New World. Also, the ship that brought Karlovitch’s great-grandparents to America.

The whiskey is triple distilled, and they currently have three whiskies in their care range, the Caribbean Rum Cask, Bourbon Cask and Madeira Wine Casks. Although I sampled all three, I want to go in-depth on the one I liked the most, the Madeira Wine Casks.

Nose: fruit, caramel and sweetness
Palate: dried fruit, spices and slightly nutty
Finish: fruity and lightly sweet
ABV: 46%
Cost: $65 (what it was being sold for at the event)

Out of the three, the Madeira Cask was my favorite. It had an overall complex mouthfeel with touches of sweetness that never overpowered the spiced notes. I also got whispers of nuttiness which kept me wanting to sip some more.

I’m very intrigued by the brand and I’m excited to see what else they have in store.

Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
