OK, so being truthful, I personally don’t think I’ve ever had a bad Chivas whisky. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying they’re all extraordinary, but so far none have been terrible. This includes Chivas XV.
XV is finished in French oak casks, while a portion is further aged in Cognac casks.
Nose: honey, cinnamon, and fruit
Palate: fruit, caramel and butterscotch
Finish: vanilla and lightly sweet
ABV: 40%
Cost: $50 msrp
It’s lightly sweet and very easy to drink. It’s filled with fruit and sweetness. The sweetness is perfectly balanced with cinnamon and vanilla notes.
I don’t see myself running to get a bottle not because it’s bad but because we have plenty of other great whiskies at home. But this would make a good whisky for the Chivas lover, or someone just getting into whiskey and finally, a cocktail lover. It’s a whisky that would be perfect for cocktails.
Cheers!
