Non-Traditional Manhattan (Video blog)

Not too long ago I went to Trader Joe’s and realized that they actually make their own whisky. Who knew?? I off course wanted to try it to see how well they did. The bottle I got is blended, matured and bottled in Scotland for Trader Joe’s. They also have two other whiskies that are made in Scotland for Trades Joe’s based on their specification.

Unfortunately I didn’t really like this blended whisky of theirs! I really struggled to drink it and had to add plenty of ice before it was remotely drinkable. With that in mind I didn’t want the whisky bottle to go to waste although I only paid $9.99 for it. Even though I didn’t lose much money on this purchase I wanted to give anyone out there who had spent a lot of money on a whisky they didn’t like an idea for a cocktail.

Thinking that the Super bowl this past weekend was in the New York/New Jersey area, I thought of a non-traditional Manhattan which is actually very simple to do.

Here’s what you’ll need:

2.5 ounces of whisky (note bourbon can be used as well)

1 ounce of vermouth (Recipe calls for sweet but I used dry. You can use whichever you prefer)

Dash (splash) of bitters (I used Angostura)

Piece of skin of an Orange

2 or 3 Maraschino cherries

Ice

You can go ahead and watch the video to see how it’s made. Cheers!

Note: The contents on my blog are solely my opinion. To me every palate is different! Although I may or may not like a product, I always recommend for people to try it and make up their own minds.
